Types of Spinal Wellness Care for Different Health Needs

Spinal care comes in different types that are suitable for all types of health conditions and discomforts. It is applicable to general health care or treatment of specific medical conditions. Just like any areas in the field of medicine, spinal wellness care also has specialized branches of study. Practitioners of spinal wellness care, also called wellness experts, are capable of performing mild adjustments in areas where misalignments or subluxations are found and relieve patients from pain caused by such misalignments.
There are three main treatment approaches that wellness experts use in managing pain. These are discussed in the succeeding paragraphs.

Relief Spinal Wellness Care
This type of spinal care is applied to patients who feel pain or discomfort, no matter what caused it. With this form of treatment, patients are immediately relieved of any undesirable sensation they suffer from. The severity of the damage acquired by the patient and how it can be treated are what determine how long the treatment period will take.

Corrective Spinal Wellness Care
A more advanced form of treatment is the corrective spinal wellness care. Patients who suffered from spinal problems for quite some time and whose condition has progressed into a more serious case due to neglect of proper treatment are subjected to corrective spinal care. This treatment process usually is administered on a long term period, the length of which is dependent on how severe the damage is as well as how the patient responds to the procedure.

Find Out How To Naturally Experience Whole Body Health and Wellness

In today's western medical model, health and wellness is centered around diagnosing and chasing illness and disease. The idea is that you wait till you are ill and then you chase away the symptoms with a drug. Then hopefully the illness is diagnosed correctly and you are given the correct prescription and education to heal illness at its root cause.

Too often the healing completely part is missed and you are told you will be taking a drug to chase away the symptoms, also other drugs to stabilize and maintain the illness indefinitely (like the rest of your life). That's basically a medical model know as the allopathic model for health and wellness.
This allopathic model works great for the profits of hospitals, drug companies and the insurance industry. Unfortunately the drugs most often have a ton of side effects that are sometimes worse than the illness they are supposedly treating.

If you follow the news or you are paying attention you know that this allopathic medical model does not work to well here in the U.S. Not only are people not experiencing health and wellness they are being priced right out of any chance to enjoy what I call whole body wellness. Without a health care system that is not about profits, there is incentive for maintaining illness rather than healing.
The absence of detectable illness and disease at any given time is not the same as experiencing whole body wellness.

What is meant by whole body wellness?
This means that your bodily systems are all functioning normally. A more scientific term is homeostasis. We are talking about normal body function. This is the way your whole body should be working if you were a normal human providing your body with exactly what your body needs to function.

Eating Right During Your Fitness Training Program

Nutrition plays a very vital role in getting the results you want from your fitness training program. Often times you will hear people talk about the importance of having the right macro nutrients. So what do they mean when they talk about these? They are referring to the amount of calories you get from protein, carbohydrates, and fats. There is no set amount that works for everyone, but there are general guidelines that can be followed depending on what your goals are.

For someone that wants to shed fat, those amounts will be different compared to someone that is looking to put on size and muscle mass. While it's true that a chicken breast does have protein, carbs, and fat, there are different programs that can break down how much of each category on in a particular chicken breast. So where do you start? Often times it's said that if you are over 12% body fat; it's a good idea to follow a fat shredding plan. With this plan you will probably be running a caloric deficit. Meaning that in a typical day, your normal activities such as breathing, walking, and everything else you do besides working out, you would burn around 1800 calories. Now keep in mind this is different from everyone. A construction worker will need more calories for his normal daily activities than someone who sits at a desk. So if you need 1800 calories to get through your daily activities, plus you work out and burn 500 calories during your workout, you would need 2300 calories to get by.

However you don't want to get by and stay the same weight, you want to burn more calories than you are taking in. So you might be between 1800 calories and 2000 calories. Now that you know that amount, it is recommended by many that 50 percent of those calories come from protein, 30% from carbs, and 20% from healthy fats. So if you need 900 calories from protein, how many grams is that? Well one gram of protein is 4 calories. So you would need 225 grams of protein in your meal plan. If you need 540 calories from carbs, you would need 135 grams of carbohydrates. One gram of carbs is also 4 calories. One gram of fat however, is 9 calories. So 360 calories from fats would amount to only 40 grams.

Uses And Health Benefits Of Foot Massagers

A foot massager is basically a machine which is used to relax and massage the muscles of the feet with use of heat, rollers, vibration and water. Massaging the feet is one of the best ways to relax the entire body as there are specific reflexology points in the feet which are connected to the organs and tissues of the body. Today there are various types of foot massagers available with different features, benefits and prices.

The simplest type of device includes a set of half circle wooden rollers which can be placed on the floor. This type of massager is not electrically powered and it can be used easily. The roller targets the reflexology points on the feet and massages it accordingly. The user simply needs to rub the feet on the device.

The electric- powered massager is one of the most popular devices which are used often. There are different types of electrically powered devices in different designs and sizes. Some of these devices are designed as slippers so that the sides and the top of the feet can be massaged easily. Another variety of massager is shaped like a boot which can massage the entire foot, ankles and legs.

Another type of device is the foot bath which is basically a small tub filled with warm water. The users can soak the feet easily in the water. These tubs include jets which circulate the water gently so as to massage the feet properly. It is also possible to add medicinal ingredients to the water.

What Is Childhood Obesity and What Causes It?

What is childhood obesity? Simply put, childhood obesity is a health issue. It is a growing epidemic in the United States and it affects more than 30% of children. A child is considered obese if their body mass index is greater than 95%. If their body mass index is greater than 85% they are considered overweight. Childhood obesity is the most common chronic disease of children. Today, in America, about one in three kids is overweight or obese. That number is nearly triple of what it was in 1970. Childhood obesity is causing a wide range of health issues that previously weren't seen until adulthood. These issues include high blood cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and type two diabetes. Childhood obesity is also linked to several psychological effects. They are more prone to bullying, low self-esteem, depression and have a negative body image. Being an overweight or obese child has also been linked to higher and earlier death rates and adulthood.

Why has there been an increase in childhood obesity? There are three main reasons for the increase in childhood obesity in America. Children these days simply are not eating the right kinds of foods, they are getting less exercise and for a few there are genetic traits that lead to obesity.

So let's explore that a little deeper and take a little trip back in time. You won't remember the food you ate when you were a baby but if you have kids you will remember what you fed them. It started off with breast milk or formula that was chock-full of the vitamins and nutrients that babies need to develop. Then it transitioned to jar foods such as butternut squash, peas, carrots, bananas, strawberries and so on. And of their liquids consisted of apple juice, grape juice, milk and other healthy juices their bodies needed. But then, as they got a little older and started to incorporate finger foods into their diet, this is where we as parents of started to make our mistakes.

3 Odd Ways To Lose Stomach Fat

Your body is pre-programmed to store fat in specific areas of your body and genetics are part of the answer of how to lose the fat on your stomach. This means that even when you eat a healthy diet and have a regular exercise program, it can be very difficult to lose fat from one area.
Here are 3 unusual ways on how to lose the fat on your stomach.

1. Controlling Stress.
Trying to work out how to lose the fat on your stomach can be stressful and stubborn belly fat can sometimes be the result of stress. Stress can create a change in your hormones, particularly with the hormone cortisol, that causes fat to settle in the abdomen. This fat, apart from making it difficult to find clothing that fits well, is the most dangerous place for fat to settle from a health perspective.
Reducing your stress levels can help you to stabilise your hormone levels and get rid of stubborn belly fat. Exercises like yoga and meditation can help you to control your stress and cortisol. You can also try dietary supplements that are designed to normalize your cortisol levels. Make sure you take the supplement as the manufacturer recommends and talk to your healthcare provider before beginning any course of supplements.

2. Are You Sleeping Enough?
Getting enough sleep is also critical to preventing the accumulation of belly fat and getting rid of stubborn belly fat that already surrounds your waistline. The average adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep each night and gets far less. This affects the cortisol levels in the same way that stress does. Make sure to get your beauty sleep each night so that you can get rid of stubborn belly fat.

A Look At Four Steps For Stopping Stress

If you hang around people enough and start to pay attention, you will realize that one of the words that comes up in conversation quite often is "stress." Many people seem to live in a perpetual state of stress, where they are always feeling overwhelmed, and are constantly in a position where they do not feel that they have enough time to get done all the things they need to get done; if this sounds familiar to you, here is a look at four steps you can take in order to stop stress from dictating your life!

The first thing you need to do, in order to stop stress from dictating your life, is make sure you are able to identify and acknowledge the fact that you have an issue with getting stressed from time to time; many people never actually acknowledge that this is something with which they have a problem, and that this is something they would like to fix, and because of this, they are never able to take the subsequent steps that will enable them to change course.

After you have paused to acknowledge that, yes, this is something with which you have a problem (and is something you would like to figure out how to correct), the next thing you will want to do is identify what actually causes this stress to come your way; once you start exploring your life, searching for the causes of your stress, you will probably find that there are a few specific things that tend to cause you stress over and over again.

Is Your Food Making You Sick?

Twenty-nine year New Jersey school teacher, Jennifer Vigne, struggled with what she called an "uncooperative digestive system" since she was a child. Over the years, her doctors ordered many tests and performed exploratory surgery looking for the cause of her symptoms but nothing turned up. Finally, about 10 years ago she was diagnosed with a condition her gastroenterologist called irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It got so severe during the last four years that she stopped going out with friends fearing her symptoms would come on without warning when she wasn't near a restroom. She was prescribed many different medications but they only provided temporary relief, never a cure. Her symptoms just kept getting worse. "The fear of having a stomach attack in the middle of teaching, driving, or hiking left me limited with things to do and often feeling depressed and desperate", said Vigne. As it turns out, she was suffering from food sensitivities all along and didn't know it. She was eating foods every day that were causing her immune system to react and trigger her chronic gut symptoms. After being evaluated for food sensitivities using a blood test called MRT (Mediator Release Test), she started the LEAP ImmunoCalm Diet. In just 10 days her symptoms began to subside and one year later she remains virtually symptom free.
Food Allergy vs Food Sensitivity: what's the difference?
The main differences between food allergies and food sensitivities are the types of reactions that typically occur, the time frame in which they occur, the amount of food needed to trigger a reaction, and the types of foods that are typically involved in reactions.
Perhaps the best known symptom of food allergy is also its least common and most dangerous - anaphylaxis. When this happens, the airway tightens, the throat swells, blood pressure severely drops, and dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting can occur. People with anaphylaxis can die within minutes of ingesting just a crumb of an allergic food. Fortunately, symptoms of food allergies are not typically this severe. Most people with food allergies usually experience far less life-threatening, albeit bothersome, symptoms including hives, itching, swelling, wheezing, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness. Regardless of the severity of the reaction, allergic foods are not typically difficult to identify due to the short time frame in which symptoms develop and because the vast majority of cases are attributed to one or more of the following eight foods: peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, eggs, cow's milk, wheat, and soy.

Omega-3 Fats And Their Potential Life-Saving Health Payoffs

For your health, nothing is more important than the food you eat. This article serves as one of a countless number of others that reiterate this statement. In the case of this article, as the title says, it hones in on the wonderful health payoffs of omega-3 fats.

Regular dietary intakes of omega-3 fats have many health payoffs. This includes the avoidance or reversal of a whole host of illnesses like:

*Type-2 diabetes
*Ischemic stroke
*Breast cancer growth
*Omega-3 fats serve help develop a strong immune system
... The list goes on

The benefits of omega-3 fats are nothing new to Doctors in the USA. However, through fear of having their business undercut the medical/pharmaceutical establishment do not want doctors showing patients the available documentary evidence that, for example, fish oil foods rich in omega-3 fats can prevent or reduce heart disease. Doctors could lose their job for recommending this.

Is There a Benefit to Vitamin D You Haven't Heard of Yet?

Irena Duval consistently led an energetic life and kept very busy at work. For the past 20 years she had been getting out of bed at dawn each morning and working at least 12 hour days as a professional for fortune 500 firms - and liking it. Nevertheless, a couple years ago she discovered she just didn't have the same amount of energy. She began having trouble sleeping in the evening and put on weight she just couldn't seem to lose. "I figured it was simply part of aging, or menopause possibly," says the 55 year old from Norfolk, VA. "I figured I just needed even more workout, possibly eat a little better."

When her sluggishness just wouldn't disappear and she began having difficulty getting even the most fundamental to-do list done on a daily basis, Duval made a visit with her doctor. "Turns out my vitamin D levels were way below typical," Duval said. She went home with prescriptions for high dosage vitamin D and within a couple months her stamina returned and the weight just diminished. She says, "I went from barely getting out of bed in the early morning to being an expert multi-tasker once more."

According to her doctor about fifty percent to two thirds of his patients struggle with insufficient vitamin D. Fatigue is definitely a sign, yet since it is created by so many things it often isn't really associated with vitamin D levels. Also a great deal of people have similar chronic non certain symptoms and have seen many various physicians who cannot link it with any kind of specific trouble.

Organic and Eco-Friendly Nails

If you get your nails done at the salon, then you know the setting. You walk in and immediately are hit by the smell. Take a look at the amount of chemicals that are used. Just try to SAY some of them: "ethyl methacrylate", "quaternary ammonium", "toluene" and "acetonitrile." Now think of not only saying them, but breathing them in! Even if you don't work at a salon, you likely have smelled the pungency of chemicals. If you look up just some of the chemicals associated with nail salons, you are going to see other key words like "eye irritation", "asthma", "dizziness" and "headaches." The fact is that there are harmful chemicals floating through the air and every time you go into a salon to get a manicure or pedicure, you are breathing them in. So what can you do?

One thing you can do is look for salons that are eco-friendly. You want salons that either completely abolish the use of harsh and harmful chemicals, or at minimum cut back on them. They are out there! Now that there is a stronger health conscious faction than ever, business owners are realizing that they need to set a higher standard. The problem with nail salons though is that they are slow in coming around. The reason though is because of the customers. As customers become more and more aware of the healthier options available to them, they can make wiser decisions.

In today's world people are becoming more and more conscious of their carbon footprints and what they mean to future generations. Here's the question though: how do you maintain a quality level of service while still keeping the environment in mind? This is where some searching is going to come in handy. More businesses are becoming environmentally friendly and they are promoting that to the market to find customers with the same valued principles. A simple search online can locate exactly the service you need that has owners who are dedicated to higher principles!

In 1993, the World Health Organization said, "There is a suspected link between Alzheimer's disease and the toxicity of aluminum.

Some studies find a link between Alzheimer's disease and aluminum, while others deny that such a link exists. A 1993 World Health Organization "Public Health Report" cited autopsies that found high concentrations of aluminum in the brains of those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease.

Heavy metals such as aluminum are known to accumulate in the brain, where only the most effective detox cleanses can begin to restore health and remove them.

Some individuals may not even realize that incontinence is a medical problem. If you are having symptoms of poor bladder or bowel control the first thing you should do is to talk to your health care professional. He or she is the right person who can appropriately diagnose and recommend the applicable treatment and management strategies. However, it can be embarrassing and even frustrating to talk your doctor about these symptoms.

Make it easier by taking a moment to write down a list of questions. This can help you to get the most from your doctor visit and lets your doctor know what is of the most concern to you. Here are a few of the things you need to know, and should your doctor about:

1. What kind of incontinence do you think I am having?
2. What could be affecting my symptoms? Are there genetic, or lifestyle factors that may be responsible for this? Could the medications I take be making this worse? Is this the result of pregnancy and childbirth? Is there an underlying medical cause for what I am experiencing?
3. If my problems are the result of a medical condition, will treating it improve my bladder or bowel loss of control?
4. Are there further complications I should be worried about? What do I do if I begin experiencing them?
5. What kind of tests will you be performing? Is there something I need to do to prepare for them?
6. Do I need to keep a written record of my episodes (voiding diary)? Is there any other written information you need?
7. If I refuse to do the treatment you recommend, will my symptoms remain the same, get better, or get worse?

How to Live a Normal Life Again, After Injury

When people get a bad injury, their life is changed forever. Not only do they have to go through the treatment and recovery process, but they have to go through the process of trying to move on.

If people are in pain, they tend to turn to doctors who will give them painkillers and then they don't have to bother with it anymore. However, taking painkillers masks further injury. So people might be causing themselves more harm and they won't even know that they have done it.

Therefore, they might turn up at the doctors one day and when they want to access the injury before they prescribe more tablets, they might get a nasty shock. Painkillers are good for when the injury first occurs and through the initial recovery, but once that stage is over, they must try and wean themselves off the pills.
If you are in this position, then you will know that this can be a hard process. You might feel that you still need the tablets because you are still in pain, but there are times when the pain is actually gone and what you are feeling is all in your head.

You will have trouble coming off the pills, not because you are addicted to them, but because you honestly don't think that that you can live a normal life without them. When this happens, you need to get help straight away.

Therapy
If your doctor is sure that your injury is healed and you shouldn't be able to feel pain at all, you should ask for an alternative opinion. If that opinion is the same as the previous doctor's, then it is time to seek therapy.
This is because the feeling of pain is in your head and you are only using the pills as a safety blanket. The problem here is psychological and it needs to be treated just like any other illness.
The therapist will work with you to make you see that you aren't in any pain and the pills are not doing anything for you, anymore. Taking pills for a long period of time is very dangerous because you will eventually become immune to them. Then, when you do need the pills for something else, they won't work for you.

Are Americans Sugar Addicts?

When I mention sugar, most people think of desserts. Cake, ice cream, cookies, doughnuts, pie, candy, milkshakes, cereal, syrup, bread, coffee cake, sweet tea and the list goes on. What most people don't know is that sugar is now found in almost every packaged food item. This all adds up at the end of the day.
It's common place for American families to have dessert after dinner. We teach our kids that sugar is highly esteemed, to be served at Birthday parties both at home and school. We reward them with candy for good behavior or on Valentines day it's a gift that shows our love. Our children believe that it's a healthy way to celebrate, reward ourselves and receiving it as a gift shows we're loved and well-behaved. But what are we really doing?

I believe, we're grooming our children to turn to sugary foods and chemicals to make them feel better when they're down. To reward themselves with a sugary dessert when a goal is achieved. We learn in PE class that if we're bad, we have to run laps. We're taught that exercise, which is healthy, is a form of punishment. That view is even carried over into the world of dieting. "I did a bad thing by eating too much food, so I have to suffer through exercise to lose weight." Are you following me? Seems a little backwards, doesn't it? I'm not saying we can't enjoy a sweet treat but we must get this sugar craze under control.
Let's shed some light on sugar. We know too much of it can lead to obesity and obesity in turn leads to several other diseases and eventually an early death. That should be enough to make you want to quit sugar all together, but we're a nation of sugar addicts.

How To Stop Smoking Forever!

Well that is a bold statement! But in 1991 on a cold winter day I found myself out on the fire escape in the freezing rain holding an umbrella, freezing cold but driven to smoke. I worked at a hospital-based treatment center at the time and they had just banned smoking from hospitals. Of course that seemed insane for our unit as probably 95% of drug and alcohol addicts smoke cigarettes. But I was compliant as I stood on the fire escape willing to go to any lengths to smoke that freezing January day.

Just for a little background - I started smoking when I was eleven. It is embarrassing to admit that, but my need to have a substance relieve me of how I felt started at a really young age. I always felt ashamed and guilty for smoking. I knew at 11 that I was doing something I shouldn't be doing; multiple times had I tried to quit, swear off, taken an oath, and prayed to quit smoking. Just like many people I had quit what felt like a thousand times. Sometimes it was a thought and sometimes I went a few days to only return to the bondage of cigarettes.

On this particular January day, I was pretty disgusted with myself. As I stood there freezing, taking my puffs, I realized I was chained to this stupid cigarette. This stupid white roll of tobacco owned my time, my money, my health, and my attention. I was angry at myself for not having more will power. When I returned inside, I commiserated with one of the counselors I worked with, and he told me what to do to solve my smoking problem forever. I was all ears as he shared this simple technique. He told me every time I lit a cigarette to thank God that he was removing the desire to smoke and to thank Him that I wouldn't be smoking much longer. Well, that seemed a little too simple but I thought, "What the heck?" So from that day forward every time I lit a cigarette I would say "Thank You, God, for removing the desire to smoke cigarettes; thank You that I will not be smoking much longer". Sometimes I would forget to thank Him as I was smoking, but I would just say it when I did remember no matter how long it had been since I had smoked. I would pull the cigarette out of the pack, look at it and state those words... "Thank You, God, for removing the desire to smoke cigarettes; thank You that I will not be smoking much longer".

The Cost Of Smoking, Quit Now

Recently I was walking. I needed a breather from working online. As I was walking, I could hear the roar of I-5. It wasn't rush hour because the noise was louder. I don't know why they call it rush hour because it is stop and go traffic. I guess it is called rush hour because people rush to the freeway, rush five, stop and rush another five feet only to rush into work late. The speed limit is 60 mph and everyone is going 5 mph. It should be called turtle hour.

Stupid, "they". "They" should get some sense and change things. Everyone's information now a day relies on "they". I vote to call rush hour... turtle hour. Are you with me? We make a change today.
While I was enjoying my break I was thinking about the time I worked a 9-5. Get up, drive 30 minutes or sit in traffic for 30 minutes, work with people who talk about what they drunk the night before and slept someone who was not their spouse, sit in traffic for 45 minutes, eating unhealthy dinner, watch T.V., then to bed all the while smoking a pack a day. All to do again for the next five to six days, four weeks a month, twelve months a year, thirty to fifty years of your life.

Side note: if you smoke... let's do some math.
If you start smoking at the age of twenty and live to be seventy. That is 50 years.
The average price for a pack of smokes is about if you smoke a pack a day is this: $6.50 x 30 days = $195. Now take that $195 and put into an investment with a moderate 3% on interest. $195 x 3%= $200. $200 x 12 months = $2400. $2400 x 50 years = $120,000.
Or take half that $195 and purchase books on investments and increase the bottom line or take a vacation, or pay down some bills or build a business. It just didn't make sense why I smoke for 10-15 years. I am no math major but that is a lot of dough.

How To Banish Cellulite If You Are Older Than 50

Cellulite, the medical skin condition, is closely tied to age. Older women show a higher tendency of developing cellulite for two reasons. The first reason is beyond the age of 35 the body starts forming more fatty deposits. The second reason is the skin in old age loses its firmness and elasticity. Not only this, it is difficult to get rid of cellulite after the age of 40, but it is not impossible. We will show you how to get rid of cellulite if your older than 50.

Cellulite Removal after 50 - Tips and Tricks
Most women gain weight as they age. It is caused by hormonal fluctuations occurring during menopause. Weight gain makes cellulite more prominent. Hence, if you are over 50 and you want to treat this medical skin condition, you should maintain steady and healthy weight. One can adopt various approaches. It includes diet, exercise and supplements.
  • Dietary Changes
When it comes to an anti-cellulite diet, you should east fiber-rich, water-rich and antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables. Choose colorful fruits and vegetables because they are richest sources of antioxidants. Antioxidants improve the quality of skin and prevent premature aging. Eat berries, sweet peppers, tomatoes, parsley, cabbage and citrus fruits. Also eat whole grains and lean protein in plenty. You can cut back on foods containing a high proportion of trans-fat, refined sugar and sodium. It is better to consume fruits and vegetables in their raw form to reap the best benefits for cellulite.

Weight Loss Strategies: How to Plan for Success

"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."
By learning to plan, you are learning to empower yourself for success. Quite simply, it stacks the odds in your favor. Below are three quick and easy ways you can begin to do just that and reap the benefits planning will provide.

PLAN YOUR MEALS
Here is the "why" of this crucial step: it gives you a framework for your meals during a set period of time; it takes the guess work out of what you are going to eat; and guess work can often lead to poor food choices.
Knowing what you are going to be eating naturally segues into step 2 of your planning,
deciding what you are going to be buying (the list)!

This is a great opportunity to pull out the new recipe book you recently purchased (or dust off the old one) and find a healthy dish you would like to try. It doesn't have to be fancy or elaborate; jot the items down that you will need, and thus you have already started your list.

Many people fear that having a meal plan restricts their choices. Fair enough that on Monday afternoon you may not know what you will be in the mood to eat for dinner on Thursday.
Flexibility is easy to achieve when planning your meals in advance. If you are shopping for the next four days, decide on four breakfasts, four lunches, and four dinners. If you snack twice during the day, you will need to get enough for eight snacks.

Pay Attention To Your Fitness

Paying attention to your fitness is important. Why? Well! we do not want to become selfish or self-centered persons. We want to be kind and generous. We want to take care of others. We want to fulfill our responsibilities. But more often we do it on the sake of our own fitness.

We compromise our health in the name of responsibilities. I have watched people who take care of their health as well as their business goals but this only happens in rare cases. Most people who are well passed 40, neglect their health completely, till their body gives the alarming signals. This results into loss of work and the cost of hundreds of dollars.

We all know health is not a minor issue. However, we ignore it completely. I am not saying that you should become worried about your health and stop living happily. I am offering a new vision. You cannot achieve fitness through one hour of workout. Health and fitness is not a matter of hard work and dollars and it should not be that way.

A healthy lifestyle should enable you to live a healthy and long life. For this purpose some minor steps are required. Minor steps that will take some major turns. Eating disorders can make you sick while eating right food at the right time, guarantees a healthy life.

Drinking less water causes dehydration, however, drinking 8 glasses of water daily makes you active and energetic. You can see the pattern. A healthy lifestyle is the direct result of good healthy habits.
So, what is meant by fitness?

The Seven Rules of Living Well, Naturally

Sometimes it seems as if every aspect of modern life conspires to turn us against our natures. So many of us are disconnected from the natural world around us, and we too eagerly go along with the soul-crushing and physically unhealthy trends of the times. But it is possible to live a better life, even without changing the central aspects of your career, home, and family. In fact, one can live perfectly well in the modern world without giving in to all its negatives. If you follow these seven simple rules, life can be much better, and you can achieve natural health.

1. Live for others. There is certainly something to be said for setting goals for oneself and pursuing the happiest life possible, but what we cannot forget is that there is no personal fulfillment without meaningful relationships and love shared with others. Always remember to be thankful for the people in your life, and have as much compassion for others as you can. Remember that we all come from different backgrounds and have lived through different circumstances, and that disagreement is not a good reason to treat others with disrespect. Always take the high road.

2. Do not get caught up in small things you cannot change. Life cannot be perfect. There are always going to be small annoyances as well as unfortunate things that are beyond our power. The key is to identify what cannot be changed and to be at peace with it. Learn to let things go.

3. Cultivate greater awareness. What is the point of life if one withdraws from the world around them and does not take an interest in anything? Try to cultivate a sense of curiosity, and continuously build your knowledge of the world. It is easy to become numb, but this is not good for the mind or for one's overall health.

Health - There is No Stress Leave

Frequently individuals are upset by situations in the workplace. They don't like the boss or have relationship problems with a co-worker. Perhaps the hours or type of work has worn them out. In desperation they go to their family doctor and request a "stress leave".

Well, there is no such thing as "stress leave" anymore. Everyone has stress and insurance companies therefore do not accept stress as a reason to be away from the workplace.

Your doctor will assess your symptoms and may provide you with a note which will be acceptable for a brief "medical leave". This implies that you have an illness that prevents you from working. It may be depression, anxiety or a sleep disorder but it won't be accepted if it merely states that you are experiencing stress.
Insurance does not cover "workplace issues". For example, if you are being harassed, having problems getting along with your boss or don't like the policies and procedures, asking your doctor for a leave is not going to help in the long run. It is not honest or realistic to expect a doctor to provide you with ongoing documentation so you can be away from work because you just don't like being there. Instead, you may need to talk with Human Resources about how you can resolve the issues.

If, on the other hand, you have a physical problem such as a heart attack, broken limb or addiction, it is totally appropriate to work with your doctor to ensure that you have an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Your doctor may refer you to a specialist to help with your recovery and will usually support this by completing the paperwork for your insurance program.

What To Avoid Eating When You Have Fibroids - 4 Food Groups To Leave Well Alone

You may have already realised that your diet can be linked to having fibroids. However, it is not thought that a poor diet is the only cause of this condition, but there is no doubt that many doctors believe it is one of a number of causes which, when present together, can trigger off fibroid growth. If you are wondering what to avoid eating when you have fibroids, this is a positive step towards recovery as dietary modification can play a big part in the healing process.

If you do nothing else, then consider changing your diet to incorporate foods which are known to be good for fibroid sufferers and avoid those known to cause further aggravation.

There is lots of information about which components make up a healthy diet, but less relating to what you shouldn't eat if you have fibroids. Some women are genetically predisposed to develop fibroids whereas others are not. In general terms, a diet which is high in processed foods perhaps containing additives and preservatives, acidic foods, those grown with the aid of pesticides, sugars, refined carbohydrates and the "wrong" types of fats can affect the normal processes within a healthy cell and cause hormonal imbalances. It can also lead to food not being digested properly and the retention of toxins.

What To Avoid Eating When You Have Fibroids

1. White Sugar
Processed sugar has been stripped of all its nutrients and can cause the blood sugar to quickly rise, thus causing the fast release of insulin. This, in turn, can lead to insulin resistance and even diabetes. Other hormones are also involved in the process and when hormones become imbalanced, this puts extra strain on the liver which can contribute to, and aggravate fibroids.

Sugar can also contribute to an acidic stomach environment which can lead to yeast overgrowth and harmful bacteria colonising within the colon.

How to Choose the Best Deodorant for Men

Dealing with bad odor and excessive sweating is a real problem to a lot of people. In spite of the fact that there is so much information on this subject, people have many misconceptions about sweating. First and foremost, people don't actually know what causes body odor. Namely, a lot of people are convinced that only old people have problems with excessive sweating just because they are old. But this is nowhere near the truth, as everybody can have problems with body odor and sweating. Whether you are a child, a man in your fifties or older than this, you can have problems with distinctive body odor. The reason for this is simple - it's not sweating what causes unpleasant smell, but bacteria on your skin. Everybody sweats, but only people who have bacteria on their skin are troubled by an unpleasant smell. Knowing this should help you decide whether you need deodorants or not.

As it has already been mentioned above, antiperspirants and deodorants are meant to help you fight off germs and bacteria that might be on your skin. This is the main reason why these products contain alcohol or other chemicals, which brings us to another myth. The next myth people have on deodorants for men and on deodorants in general is based on a belief that all chemicals found in these products should be avoided. People wrongly believe that alcohol can damage your skin or even cause some serious problems. When you think about it logically, natural ingredients and organic deodorants for men should be better for the skin and in most cases are. This, however, doesn't mean that a deodorant shouldn't contain any chemicals and it certainly doesn't mean that all chemicals are bad for our health. Alcohol found in deodorant for men has proven to be quite efficient in fighting off germs and bacteria from your skin, so it shouldn't be placed in the same basket with aluminum, which is much more dangerous for people's health.

Natural Health and Beauty Tips: Using Organic Wax For Hair Removal

Some women need to shave frequently, and if you are among them, then using organic wax for hair removal is a sensible alternative. In fact, many women are turning to organic hair removal treatments because they are concerned that laser treatments or other forms of hair removal may be harmful to their skin. Shaving gels or creams often contain harsh ingredients that can cause redness or rashes on sensitive skin. Organic waxes are good for all women, particularly those who have sensitive skin, because these waxes do not contain preservatives or harmful chemicals.

The organic waxes used for hair removal are created from all-natural ingredients such as beeswax and honey. Moom, one of the most popular brands of organic wax, is made from cane sugar and tea tree oil. In addition to being hypoallergenic and water-soluble, these ingredients are not harsh on the skin and work well in removing body hair. The way organic waxes work is that they are applied to the skin with a flat plastic utensil. Then, the wax is covered with a thin strip of material that is very quickly removed. The reason that the material must be pulled off swiftly is so that it can remove both the hair and the root.

If you want to use an organic wax to remove hair at home, then you may wish to create your own using all-natural ingredients such as lemon, sugar, and honey. To ensure that your wax mixture is free of any harmful additives, the lemons and honey must be organic. To make the mixture, use 2 cups of sugar, 1/4 cup of water, and 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice. Put these ingredients in a pan, and heat the mixture on the stove until you see the sugar turn a light shade of brown. This is a great method to use when making organic wax, because you know exactly what ingredients are present.

Natural Health Benefits Of Diatomaceous Earth

These days everyone is looking for a way to live a healthier lifestyle, and many have departed from the realms of traditional doctor prescribed medicines to seek the aid of natural health supplements that can focus more on the prevention of disease than anything else. While some doctors may still be trying to deny the new attempts at healthier living, most are on board with health supplements such as diatomaceous earth, because their patients continue to swear by the results and due to the reality that at the very least, DE does no harm. In fact, it does the exact opposite. To understand what the natural health benefits of DE are, you must first realize what it is and how it works.

Diatomaceous earth comes from the earth itself and is fashioned into a digestive friendly supplement that acts as a cleanser for the excretory system. With a hardness of 7 (compared to a 9 for that of diamonds), DE is a very hard substance that, when passing through your intestines, can clean the inner walls, which are typically caked up with mucus, fungi, or other forms of bacteria and parasites. All the things that can lead to cancer, in other words. When DE passes through the system, it tears loose this harmful material without actually doing any damage to your intestines at all. Substances are passed out of the body through the excretory system leaving a healthier you behind.

As the DE does its job on your colon and kidneys, some passes in to the blood stream, where it can work the same kind of science on fats and cholesterol. While results will certainly vary for most everyone, diatomaceous earth has been credited by many users for lowering their cholesterol count by up to 50 points. What all of these benefits mean for you is this: when you use DE, you stand a better chance of having more energy, greater regularity, and a body that is equipped to fight or prevent the diseases that most commonly kill men and women each year.

Natural Health Cures Are A Way To A Better Life

Natural health cures are not secret, but they might as well be. They can be found throughout the Internet, but you can also find reviews telling you that they do not work.

Who do you believe? Health is the same as anything else that you find online. What information do you trust? We live in a world where a lot of people are sick. These people need answers that can help them.
I recently read that one out of every two men will die from cancer, and one out of three women will die from cancer. Every year the percentage of people dying gets worse. Why? With all of the money spent on research, why are more and more people dying?

We have a health care system in the USA that discourages finding natural health cures, and it is about time the people decided to rebel against the system, and demanded some answer on why so many people get sick, and do not get any better.

Drug companies lobby congress to give approval to their drugs, and then pay doctors to distribute them. The insurance companies pay for the people to use them, but will not pay for using natural remedies.
Is that the main reason that people will not try natural cures, because their insurance will not pay for them? Or is it that mainstream medicine blast anyone who uses natural means are less than intelligent.
You probably did not know that over one hundred thousand people die each year from reactions when taking prescribed medication. That is a lot of deaths. That is not even counting all of the adverse side effects that people get from their medication.

Take Control of Autoimmune Diseases Naturally

Whenever I see a woman with an autoimmune disease in my office, one of the first things I ask her is how she's handling the stress in her life, and if she's finding time to rest.
That's because I know—and research shows—that stress can bring on a flare in diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and psoriasis. One study found, for instance, that the daily stress of everyday living affects how women with lupus feel more than major life stresses like moving or starting a new job.19 I also know that fatigue is a major component of many of these diseases.
Women, this is no time to put yourself last. You have a chronic, lifelong disease that can be held in check by medication and lifestyle changes—if you incorporate both into managing your condition.
So here are some things I recommend:

  1. Take a walk. It doesn't have to be long, and it doesn't have to be fast. But get outside or to an indoor mall or museum and walk for at least 20 minutes. Studies find such moderate exercise can help with the stiffness and pain of autoimmune diseases and improve your mood.
  2. Take an hour a day to rest. You don't have to nap if you don't want to, but just lying in a quiet room reading or meditating can be amazingly restorative. Don't be embarrassed about this. Tell your boss, children and partner that this one hour is what enables you to remain productive and energetic the rest of the day.
  3. Learn at least one technique to reduce stress hormones in your body. Notice I didn't say reduce stress—I know that's impossible. But studies find that things like deep breathing, meditation and visualization can reduce levels of stress hormones in your body. These hormones are inflammatory—contributing to the inflammation behind many autoimmune diseases.

Natural Ways to Prevent and Manage the Flu

The best defense against illness is a good offense. Smart health habits can go a long way in preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses like the flu. Protect yourself and your children from getting sick by practicing these healthy habits:
  • Wash your hands frequently. Ordinary soap is sufficient. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand cleaner. Antibacterial soaps add little protection, particularly against viruses. In fact, a study suggests that although hand washing with soap reduced the number of pneumonia-related infections in children under five by 50 percent, there was no difference in the results when antibacterial soap was used instead of regular soap.
  • Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, or cover your mouth and nose with your upper sleeve, not your hand.
  • Throw used tissues in the trash.
  • Refrain from touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs often spread when you touch something that is contaminated with germs and then touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Remind your kids not to share cups, eating utensils and school supplies, such as pens and pencils.
  • Stay home if you or your children are sick to avoid spreading the virus to others. Additionally, staying home and getting adequate rest will help you get back on your feet faster.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people when possible. If your child attends day care or school, make sure children and staff are encouraged to stay home when they are sick. If your child's play date is sick, reschedule. It's better to be safe than sorry.
  • Add germ-fighting foods to your diet. Click here for ideas.
  • Practice other good health habits and keep your family's immune system strong throughout the year:

Sleep Better Starting Tonight

If you can't remember the last time you woke up feeling rested and refreshed, you're not alone. Many of us have trouble falling asleep or awaken during the night and can't go back to sleep. Women are more likely than men to have such insomnia.
Poor sleep takes a toll no matter what time of year it is. Sleep disruption produces fatigue, reduced functioning, impaired memory and lowered mood, among other problems. It's also associated with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, anxiety and depression.
Yet you can get more, and better, sleep—without drugs—by understanding your own sleep profile, adjusting some of your daily behavior patterns and making sleep-friendly nutritional choices.
"Behavioral treatments are usually more effective in treating insomnia long-term than medications," says Matthew R. Ebben, PhD, assistant professor of psychology in neurology, the Center for Sleep Medicine, New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Medical College of Cornell University. "Managing what you do is the most important factor to help you sleep at night."
Know what you need
How often do you steal time from sleeping in order to catch up on work, house chores, family activities or just watch something entertaining on TV?
To make sure you're sleeping enough, you have to know your sleep need. That might not be the proverbial eight-hours-a-night we always hear about. Individuals differ in the sleep duration that's right for them, as well as in how little sleep it takes to make them drowsy in the daytime.
"If you happen to be a 10-hour sleeper, the fact that there are some people who get along on five hours of sleep and feel fully rested doesn't help you. You're still going to need your 10 hours," Dr. Ebben says.
To find your sleep need, allow yourself to sleep and see how many hours it takes for you to feel refreshed. You might be so sleep-deprived that it will take some time to figure out your actual need. Use that number of hours to schedule a standard bedtime and wake time.
